Author Royalties
Author royalties are paid at a rate of 25% of the net price. Net price is what the book actually makes minus cost of printing, shipping & handling costs, and bookstore discounts.
Why bookstore discounts?
Booksellers will not carry or list your book unless they receive a discount from the publisher. They are in the business to make money and they can't make money if they don't receive a discount.
How often are royalties paid?
Author royalties are paid quarterly. Authors will receive an invoice for all books sold, along with their royalty payments.
How come Premium packages offer 50% royalties?
These authors receive 50% net royalties because they have chosen to make a
greater financial investment in their books.
Do author purchases qualify for royalty payments?
No. Authors purchase their books at a substantial discount, therefore they do not qualify for royalty inclusion.
How much is the author discount?
Author discounts vary depending upon the number of books ordered. Discounts begin at 20% and can go as high as 40%. Please check your contract agreement or contact your editor for specifics. Author discounts increase with the number of books purchased at a time.
